Style Of Eye открыл для меня новый стиль, я называю его – minimal rave. В нем истеричный вокал и пищащие синты, реверское чувство юмора и задор. Мне кажеться, что за ним, наравне с Brodinski, Das Glow и Duke Dumont, будущее!

Привет, представься, пожалуйста, и расскажи немного о своей музыкальной карьере. Что привело тебя на музыкальную сцену?

Я продюсер, DJ и музыкант, выпускающий музыку под псевдонимом Style Of Eye. Вся моя жизнь была сосредоточена на музыке, моя мама рассказывала мне, что я устраивал концерты на улицах, когда мне было всего 2 года. Наверно, тогда и впервые… Ха-ха.

О чем твой альбом, опиши его немного.

Довольно трудно выразить музыку словами и объяснить ее другим. Создание этого альбома – очень эмоциональный и немного личный для меня процесс. Я чувствовал, что хочу сделать что-то, чего раньше не делал, поэтому я запер себя в студии на пару месяцев, чтобы найти нужное направление. Я решил сделать его и для клубов, и для домашнего прослушивания одновременно. Я подготовил софт и железо и начал делать первый трек, затем я добавлял трек за треком, пока получил ряд треков, которые, как я чувствовал, хорошо подходят друг к другу. Пробежался по ним и начал вплотную писать альбом. С точки зрения музыки, альбом содержит все, чтобы я хотел слышать и играть на танцполе, для меня это было очень важно.

Что самое сложное в создании музыки?

Забыть о времени и нормальном питании.

Ты наделал столько шуму своей музыкой, безусловно – у тебя уникальный стиль. Откуда ты черпал вдохновение, и как твоя музыка влияет на хаус и техно сцену?

Честно говоря, не могу сказать, откуда у меня такой стиль звучания. На меня повлияло так много стилей музыки, искусства и просто жизненных событий. Но конечно, есть музыканты, которых я очень уважаю: Quincy Jones, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Stephan Bodzin, Laurent Garnier и Richie Hawtin. Не знаю, как моя музыка повлияет на техно но я рад, что могу вдохновлять людей на хорошие вещи.

Что еще ты слушаешь, кроме электронной танцевальной музыки?

Я часто нахожу много интересно практически в любом жанре музыки, неважно, кантри или поп-музыка 60-х. Если музыка хорошая, очень здорово, если плохая, что ж, и в плохой музыке можно найти что-то хорошее иногда. Вдохновения для меня больше энергия, чем слышать какие-то ноты в голове. В студии я постоянно у клавиатуры, и когда услышу что-то, что привлекает мое внимание, начинаю дальше достраивать.

На тебя сколько-нибудь повлиял John Dahlbäck или другие шведские музыканты?

Tony Senghore был первым, кто привлек меня к созданию музыки. Он был для меня вдохновением и поддержкой, сейчас он мой лучший друг и вообще часть моей семьи. John Dahlback очень помог мне, как в карьере, так и в музыке. Почти все его треки отлично работают на танцполе, и музыку он делает достаточно быстро. Эти ребята дали мне понять, что не стоит слишком серьезно относиться к созданию музыки.

Если бы ты мог выбрать продюсера или музыканта для совместной работы, кто бы это был?

Бьорк (Bjork), у нее уникальный голос, мне кажется я смогу найти подход к тому, как она выражает себя. Еще Принс (Prince). А если бы у меня была машина времени, я бы записал трек с богом солнца Ра.

Какие планы на этот год?

У меня запланирован тур в Бразилии и Австралии, России и Европе вообще. Между делом буду писать ремиксы, и уже начал писать новые собственные треки. Надеюсь летом провести время с семьей.

У тебя есть еще увлечения, не считая музыку и диджеинг?

Я практикуюсь в Кви-гонг каждый день. Занятия дают мне энергию, и держат разум и тело в тонусе. Я всегда был гиперактивным, поэтому мне нужно сосредоточится, чтобы суметь завершить все то, что начал.

Hello! Please introduce yourself to our readers and give us a little history of your career! What brought you to the whole music scene and producing at the first place?

I’m a producer, DJ and artist, releasing under the guise Style Of Eye. My life have always been focused on music, my mom told me that I used to “conduct” street orchestras when I was 2 years old, so I guess that’s how I got into it at the very first.. haha.

Tell us about your album. What’s it like? Walk us through it if you know what I mean.

It’s always tough to put it in words and explain the music to others. Making this album has been a very emotional and close-hearted process to me. I felt I wanted to do something that I had never done before, so I pretty much locked myself up in the studio for a couple of months to see which direction it would take. I decided to make it work both for clubs and for home-listening, so I loaded an arrangement and started on track number one. Then I added track after track until I felt I had a collection that worked together. I went back and forth between tracks and began to produce the music. Musically, the album contains pretty much everything I’d like to hear and play on a dance floor, and that was very important to me.

What’s the hardest thing with producing?

Forgetting about time and not eating enough food.

There has been a lot of fuzz lately about the way you produce music. It is without doubt a very unique sound. Where have you found inspiration for something like it and how do you think it will affect the general house and techno scene?

Honestly, I can’t really tell you a specific source to my sound. I get influenced by so many styles of music, art and everyday life. There are many producers that I respect, from people like Quincy Jones, Prince, Stevie Wonder to Stephan Bodzin, Laurent Garnier and Richie Hawtin. I’m not sure how my sound will affect the techno scene but I’m happy if it can inspire people to do good things.

Do you listen to other types of music besides EDM? And if you do, do you get any inspiration from it?

I often find something interesting in every style of music, it doesn’t matter if its country music or 60’s pop-music, if it’s good it’s good and if it’s bad there’s probably something good in the worst part of it, haha. Inspiration for me is more of an energy, rather than hearing specific notes in my head. When I’m in the studio, I mainly play around with the keyboard until I hear something that catches my attention, and I begin from there.

How much do, for example, John Dahlbäck or any other Swedish producer influence you in your work? Do you get affected by the Swedish scene?

Tony Senghore was the first person to get me into producing more house stuff. He’s been huge inspiration and support to me and is a close friend and like one in my family. John Dahlback has meant a lot for me in many ways, both career and music-wise. By hearing his productions, it’s often very playful, and he works very fast. That is something I’ve picked up from these guys, to keep more of a relaxed view on my productions and not taking the process to seriously.

If you had to pick one producer or musician to work with on a project, who would you pick? Any dream collaboration?

Bjork. Her voice is original and I can relate to her way of expressing herself. Prince is another. If I could time-travel, I’d love to make a track with Sun-Ra.

Do you have any plans in particular for this year?

I have tours planned for Brazil and Australia, Russia and around Europe. In between I’ll be doing remixes, and I’ve started working on some new originals. I’m looking forward to spend much time with my family during the summer.

Do you have any other hobbies besides producing music and DJing?

I practice Qi-gong every day. That keeps my energy high and my mind and body in tune. I’ve always been kind of hyper-active so there’s a need for me to get focused in order to get things done.

The Jaguar – UR: I bought the vinyl when I was in NYC for the first time. At DanceTracks. Beautiful and full of energy.
The Sound Of The Big Baboo – Laurent Garnier: This was the anthem of my early teens.
Whiplash (Tear The Club Up) – No one could get that groove sound like Martin Venetjoki.
